How Can Counselling Help?

You have breast cancer. Nobody can be prepared to hear these words and life seems to change in an instant. How you see yourself changes and adapts to include numerous appointments to get the appropriate diagnosis and to come up with the treatment plan that will best meet your needs. The first focus is to attend to your physical health and the challenge of beating cancer, but you may find along the way that you no longer feel like yourself. You are managing all of life at the same time – children, family, relationships, work, and friends. An experience such as this often affects not only our physical health but also our emotional health, our mental health, and our spiritual health leaving us feeling lost and struggling to understand our feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and faith. The Breast Cancer Foundation offers support to address all your health needs. Individual and group counselling support offer a place of acceptance and nonjudgement for what you are going through, a safe place to talk about what the challenge is like for you and the opportunity to see that you are not alone in your experience. An initial consult is available with no expectation or commitment for follow up scheduling. Help is available to assist you on your journey to understand and heal on your way to wellness.
