Mammogram

OceanMed offers the GE Senographe Pristina mammogram machine, designed by women for women to ease anxiety and improve patient comfort. The Pristina features soft armrests, elegant lighting, and gently rounded shapes. It is designed to adapt to all shapes, including breast implants and small breasts. The 3D imaging technology allows for less breast compression than 2D, while providing exceptional images at a low dose. The experienced female staff at OceanMed aim to make the experience as comfortable as possible while maintaining the highest standard of care.

Stereotactic Biopsy

The Hologic Affirm^® prone biopsy system at OceanMed offers a minimally invasive X-ray breast biopsy. This technology allows the doctor to locate and biopsy small or subtle areas of suspicion identified on your mammogram. In most cases, this 3D™ biopsy procedure will reduce the amount of time and X-ray dose used to collect the tissue sample, compared to other X-ray breast biopsy procedures. It is less invasive than a surgical biopsy and leaves little to no scarring. The system offers faster procedures, and comfortable positioning eliminates the patient’s direct view of the biopsy needle, all within a multisensory room designed to alleviate anxiety.

Ultrasound

The Logic E10 ultrasound system is designed to produce high-quality images for ultrasound evaluation of various areas, including breast ultrasounds. This imaging modality is used in conjunction with mammography to get a more complete overall picture if a woman has dense breasts or to look further at a specific area of concern.

At OceanMed, the highly trained female sonographers can also perform ultrasound scans for all gynecological exams, pregnancy, abdominal, vascular, soft tissue, thyroid, and extremities.

Patient comfort is a priority at OceanMed and rooms are multisensory for the most relaxed experience.

Genetic Screening

OceanMed offers genetic cancer screening and counselling with Dr. Stone for women with a personal of family history of cancer. Dr. Stone has specialist training in hereditary cancer screening and counselling, specifically for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome and Lynch Syndrome. With the Myriad myRisk testing, a simple blood test can be used to screen for breast cancer genetic markers, as well as 35 different hereditary cancer genes, including BRCA 1 and 2. Knowing your risk can help you and your doctor create a proactive care plan tailored to you and allows for earlier intervention if needed.
