Chemotherapy Nurse
Gayle Sarreal is a Registered Nurse-Midwife and a Certified Chemotherapy Nurse with more than 11 years of hospital experience. She is currently the Oncology Nurse at Doctors Hospital (DH), providing Chemotherapy treatments and overseeing all DH Oncology patients.
Apart from administering chemotherapeutic agents, educating patients and their families, managing side effects and providing emotional support to patients are also integral parts of her job. Patients that visit Doctors Hospital’s Oncology department and undergo antineoplastic therapy are already experiencing a stressful situation. This is why it is important to Nurse Gayle that patients feel comfortable and happy under her care.
The Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) has always been a positive support to patients and the team at Doctors Hospital. Nurse Gayle works closely with BCF and their amazing volunteers in providing Cold Cap therapy, a non-invasive, drug-free scalp cooling technique that can successfully minimize hair loss.
Ronald Henry
Pharmacy Technician
Ronald Henry is a Certified Pharmacy Technician (University of Technology Jamaica) with 9+ years of experience in Hospital and Retail pharmacy. He is currently the lead technician in charge of the Home Health Department at Doctors Hospital, which houses Medical Durable items, including compression garments. Ronald assists the Breast Cancer Foundation by providing and fitting patients with Compression Sleeves, Gloves and Gauntlets to treat lymphedema.
Ronald started learning about compression garments on the job two years ago and is now aiming to complete his training to become a Certified Compression Specialist (CCS).
Dr. Sanjay Awasthi
Oncologist
Dr. Sanjay Awasthi is an Oncologist at Doctors Hospital and has been practicing for more than 20 years. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he later worked as the Division Chief of Hematology & Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Awasthi is trained to diagnose and treat all types and forms of cancer and employs various diagnostic tests such as biopsies, imaging tests, endoscopic tests, and laboratory tests. He is also trained to offer treatment techniques such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy to combat the spread of cancer. Dr. Awasthi has been invited to speak in more than ninety scientific meetings and conferences and has been published in over two hundred peer-reviewed journals, and he has also been involved in many research funding opportunities.
Dr. Awasthi speaks multiple languages, including Hindi and Urdu, and provides emotional and palliative care, ensuring patients experience the highest quality of life possible.
