How does your training help breast cancer patients and their families in Cayman?
Physiotherapists play a crucial role in helping people recover from surgery and prevent potential issues. They provide personalized exercises and guidance to address problems with shoulder movement and scars. The focus of physiotherapy is on the individual patient, starting with gentle exercises and gradually progressing as healing allows. The goal is to support a gradual return to regular physical activity, with the physiotherapist adjusting the exercises to match the patient’s pace. Once range of motion is restored, strengthening exercises are introduced to aid in full functional recovery.
Are there any tips you can share that could help breast cancer patients and survivors during their breast cancer journey?
Experiencing a range of emotions is normal when dealing with a cancer diagnosis. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to feel different emotions and that you don’t have to figure everything out all at once. It’s okay to take your time and ask for help when needed. In addition to seeking emotional support, practical steps like making lists, keeping a calendar of appointments, setting goals, and planning enjoyable activities during tough weeks can also help in coping with the challenges of cancer treatment.
Can you share a memorable experience since being part of our Wellness Program?
