Our Wellness Program is extremely busy, having our new office in Grand Harbour has enhanced what we can offer to breast cancer patients and survivors. This includes individual and group counselling
The new office has a dedicated bra measuring and prosthetic fitting room and is well stocked with both items along with pressure vests needed for after surgery.
We recently expanded our Awareness Programs into the schools and colleges – hopefully teaching lessons for life for those young persons, early detection is key, even more so in young victims, most cancers in younger patients are the more aggressive and fast spreading kind. We are still regularly going into work places and other communities.
The Support Groups we run are going from strength to strength. We are happy to report that the Wellness Program is now available in the Brac,
The Lymphatic Training Grant for medical professionals has continued with two more practitioners being the recipient of this grant, we are particularly pleased that one is based in Cayman Brac and fills a void that was there previously.
We continue to purchase mammogram vouchers from H.S.A. and CTMH | Doctors Hospital and pass those to the Cancer Society to give out on our behalf.
We continue to campaign and advocate for all breast cancer patients here in the Cayman Islands and buy vital medical equipment for the hospitals, such at the Digi Cold Cap machine recently purchased for George Town Hospital and the pending purchase of a Sentinel Node Detector.
We continue our commitment to offer financial support to the Cancer Society for their work with BC patients and also to the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens to help them with their Breast Cancer Awareness program held during October each year.
