Planning is underway for the third annual Breast Cancer Gala Dinner fundraiser, to be held at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on Saturday October 16th, 2010. The fundraiser, hosted by The Breast Cancer Foundation and RE/MAX Cayman Islands, promises to be even more spectacular than ever!
“The first Breast Cancer Gala Dinner, held in October 2008, was planned as a one-time event,” said James Bovell Owner/Broker of RE/MAX Cayman Islands and Director of the Foundation. “We had a tremendous turnout and raised much-needed funds for our local non-profit charities. We decided to turn this into an annual event and are thrilled to begin preparation for an exciting and even more successful 2010 Gala.”
As in previous years, all proceeds of the 2010 Breast Cancer Gala Dinner will be donated to The Cayman Islands Cancer Society and The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens. Funds from past years have helped to fuel strategic local initiatives such as the recent introduction of a formal cancer registry that has been described as a milestone in Cayman Cancer healthcare. The registry is expected to track the prevalence of all types of cancers present in Cayman, enabling better treatment, education, and prevention of such diseases.
The 2009 event included a keynote speech by Hoda Kotb of NBC’s Today Show and entertainment by Vivendi Cabaret, Bona Fide, and The Singrays. “We hope everyone will ‘save the date’ for our upcoming Third Annual Breast Cancer Gala Dinner. We have many (soon to be announced) surprises in store and some thrilling entertainment lined up. This promises to be the must-attend event of the year.” adds Heather McLaughlin of RE/MAX Cayman Islands and event organizer.
